The traditional jiaxie dance has been performed by villagers in southwestern Tibet for about 1,000 years. The group performance is staged to mark grand events. It inspired Zheng Shanlu, a practitioner of classical Chinese ink paintings, to make a 60-meter-long work as a tribute to Tibet's artistic richness.

The painting, titled The Auspicious Dance, is now on show at a three-artist exhibition held at The Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing through Oct 15.

The exhibition celebrates the natural and cultural brilliance of the Tibet autonomous region. On show are paintings and calligraphic works by Zheng, calligrapher and philanthropist Zhang Biao and Huang Jialin, an oil painter who grew up in Tibet.
