Beijing Fine Art Academy is showing at its art museum dozens of Chinese ink paintings of the mountain-and-water and flower-and-bird genres by Wu Yi,a revered artist from Nanjing, Jiangsu province. The museum is also presenting several of Wu's drawings

In his 80s, Wu committed himself to the creation of classical Chinese paintings, reforming the style to carry on traditions and make it adaptable to a modern context. His influence came from great modern painters and innovators of ink art such as Li Keran and Huang Zhou. He stayed in the United States for years, studying the use of colors in Western art. The exhibition runs through March 20.
