Lawmaker sings in ethnic language, calling for cultural conservation

Singing a ballad in the Hezhe language, which faces extinction as it has no written script, Liu Lei, a deputy to the National People's Congress, called for cultural conservation for her native Hezhe ethnic group, a minority group mainly inhabiting Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.
Riding on the tourism boom of Harbin city, Hezhe culture has also witnessed resurgence as it has attracted public attention, said Liu.
