Flash floods batter Gansu townships

Torrential rains have unleashed flash floods in Yuzhong county, Gansu province, severely damaging roads, power lines, and communications.
Eight townships have been affected, impacting 485 households and 2,002 residents, with five townships hit directly as of Friday night. Farmlands are submerged and houses destroyed, and damage assessments are ongoing, according to local authorities.

In Jiuzhuanggou village, Mapo township, one of the hardest-hit areas, rescue operations are underway.
"Today we are focusing on a comprehensive search using a grid-by-grid approach, deploying search dogs, life detectors, drones, and other equipment in coordinated operations," said Wang Zhaojun, captain of the second detachment of the national northwest regional emergency rescue center on Saturday.
