High-tech tools help maintain power supply

Chinese power operators are using high-tech tools to enhance transmission line reliability and automation. Employees from State Grid Xuzhou in Jiangsu province have introduced multi-vehicle cluster coordination to conduct interruption-free maintenance work. Prior to an overhaul of the 10 kilovolt Qiaoshen line, staff members completed a "drone + live-line inspection" to accurately pinpoint the sections that required maintenance, identifying defects such as damaged insulators before formulating an integrated maintenance plan. During the overhaul, four teams worked under unified command, eliminating 27 defects and installing three new automated switches without any interruption in power supply.

Notably, Shanghai promoted more than 160,000 new energy vehicles citywide during the period, up 19.9 percent year-on-year, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.
