Son services now available online in Shanghai

A Shanghai man has posted a note on taobao.com, China's largest online auction site, offering filial piety for lonely elderly people, for 1,000 yuan (US$123) a day.

The man said that he would accompany the customer drinking tea, chatting and even providing massages, promising to fulfil whatever duties a filial son should for his parents.

The site indicated that dozens of netizens have browsed the offer but nobody has yet taken him up on the service.

A lawyer in Nanjing suggested elderly people should go to household companies or senior citizens' homes for help, instead of trying services advertised on the Internet, as they can hardly be protected by the law.
