New class for horse jockeys is nation's first

Wuhan Commercial Service College in Hubei province launched the country's first jockey training class this week.

The class is operated by the school and a local jockey club. The goal is to train young university students to become horseracing jockeys.

The 20 male students in the jockey class need to stay under 165 cm and not weigh more than 50 kg. Female students should be under 148 cm tall and less than 48 kg.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, the students will learn how to ride a horse in coming years.
