Dongguan police for the first time admitted they're "under pressure" dealing with some "unstable persons" who are driven to the city from Shenzhen, Guangzhou Daily reported Wednesday.

In response to recent complaints over the worsening security situation in the central southern city in Guangdong province, Dongguan police officers said they’re "under pressure" to cope with the "special situation".

Ahead of the opening of Shenzhen's World 26th Summer Universiade, Shenzhen police bureau executed a campaign in April, ejecting about 80,000 "potentially unstable people" in a bid to secure social stability.

"It is therefore Dongguan, as the neighbor city of Shenzhen, to accommodate these unstable persons," a police officer said during a live interview with netizens on a Sina Weibo chat room.

The officer said they have deployed more police and intensified the daily patrol checks around the city.
