Corrupt officials under heavy pressure, commission says

China's corrupt officials are under heavy pressure amid enhanced clean-governance supervision, the country's top anti-graft agency announced on Wednesday.

A total of 25 ministerial-level officials have been investigated on corruption allegations since November 2012 after the Communist Party of China Central Committee elected its new leadership, according to the website of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

The disciplinary authorities have taken unprecedentedly strict measures to supervise government officials and have zero tolerance of corruption activities, the commission said.

In addition to government leaders, a large number of military officers, senior managers of State-owned enterprises and officials from key universities have also been investigated.

The central disciplinary authorities have attached greater importance to public opinion and online whistle-blowing platforms have become an important channel to expose corrupt officials, the commission said.
