A 26-year-old man with cerebral palsy attempted to take the national college entrance examination in Ya'an, Sichuan province, but left even before the test began because he could not write, Chengdu Economic Daily reported.

Liu Jianxiao was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was about 1 year old. But his grandfather, who was a university professor, started teaching him grade-school subjects when Liu was 5. He later studied high school and law courses.

When Liu learned that someone with cerebral palsy in Guangyuan, Sichuan, passed the national college entrance exam in 2013 and was enrolled at Sichuan University, he decided to take this year's national college entrance examination.

Liu was brought in to the test center on a wheelchair on the first day of the examination on Saturday. Because he could not hold a pen, he proposed that he be allowed to answer the questions orally while someone else wrote down the answers. But his proposal was denied.

After sitting in the test center for nine minutes, Liu left the exam center 16 minutes before the examination began.
