Free trade zone set up in Fuzhou

China’s central authorities recently have approved the establishment of three more free trade zones (FTZ) in Tianjin city, Fujian province and Guangdong province.

The FTZ in Fujian covers 118.04 sq km in all and consists of three regions, including Pingtan (43 sq km), Xiamen (43.78 sq km) and Fuzhou (31.26 sq km). It will highlight full-scale cross-Straits cooperation with Taiwan.

The Fuzhou FTZ is composed of six sections in the Fuzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone and the Fuzhou Bonded Zone Area. They are marked out in the graphics as follows.

Authorities revealed that the FTZ in Fuzhou will focus on building a demonstration zone for cross-Straits economic and cultural cooperation. It will serve as a base for industrial transformation and upgrading, development of cross-Straits e-commerce, service out-sourcing industry and Internet-of-Things industry. Fuzhou and Taiwan will also collaborate on education, tourism as well as cultural creation industry.
