Pingtan County Hospital and Taiwan's Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital will set up an Oncology Radiation Therapy Center in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Pingtan Times reported on Jan 11.

According to news from Pingtan's health bureau, both sides have signed a cooperation letter of intent, and the preparatory work is undergoing.

"The Fujian Provincial Health Bureau, Fujian Provincial Drug Supervisory Bureau, and the National Drug Supervisory Bureau offered great support to the project," said Kang Yunfa, head of Pingtan County Hospital.

It is reported that Taiwan will provide personnel, technology and equipment support to the center. Pingtan is responsible for the construction of machinery and consulting rooms. The center will be located in the south of the new medical and technology building in Pingtan County Hospital.

"The cooperation between Pingtan and Taiwan on this project will promote the construction of a common homeland across the Straits," said Xu Wangping, director of Pingtan's health bureau. He also hoped to introduce biotechnology projects from Taiwan to boost Pingtan's medical development.
