After the state visit, Xi will leave for Johannesburg to co-chair the FOCAC summit with Zuma.

The Johannesburg Summit is the second summit in the 15 years since the FOCAC' inception, and the first to be held in Africa.

This summit will serve as a milestone in pushing all-round development of China-Africa relations and promoting a more balanced, inclusive and sustainable development of the world, Xi said upon his arrival in Pretoria.

With extensive discussions ahead with African leaders on how to further cooperation, Xi expects the meeting to thrash out a new plan for and inject new impetus into China-Africa cooperation under the new circumstances.

The Chinese president also expressed his confidence that the summit will be a success that opens a new chapter for China-Africa relations.
