President Xi Jinping called on China and Cambodia on Saturday to follow the path of friendship, stand in close unity, and expand cooperation in order to enhance the well-being of the two peoples.

Xi made the remarks when meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Tianjin.

China supports Cambodia in safeguarding stability, upholding independence and achieving development and revitalization, Xi said.

The two sides should take resolute measures to crack down on cross-border crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud, and safeguard people's safety and property, he stressed.

Calling the Southeast Asian country an ironclad friend, Xi said that the two sides should firmly follow the path of friendship charted by the older generation of leaders of both countries and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Hun Manet said that no matter how the international situation changes, Cambodia is committed to friendly policies toward China, upholds the one-China principle and supports the three major global initiatives proposed by China. Cambodia looks forward to working together with China to support each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, he said.
