Yi Huiman, a senior political adviser who previously led the China Securities Regulatory Commission, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Communist Party discipline and national laws, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs said on Saturday.

The announcement was released online by the Communist Party of China's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. No further details were disclosed.

Yi, 61, a native of Zhejiang province, became a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, in June 2024. He also serves as deputy head of the CPPCC National Committee's division on economic affairs.

Before that, Yi worked in China's banking system for decades. He served as chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission from January 2019 to February 2024.
