Music festival echoes through historic architecture

Jiang Jianhua, a celebrated erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument) virtuoso, played with other fellow musicians, on Sept 1, at the Guozijian (imperial college) in Beijing.
In collaboration with pianist Jin Wenbin, pipa (China's traditional four-stringed lute) player Yang Baoyuan, cellist Song Zhao and guitarist Liu Beiyan, she captivated the audience with a repertoire spanning classical Chinese and international music. The audience responded with warm applause, deeply appreciative of both the music and the majestic historical site.
The concert is part of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Ancient Architecture Music Festival, running from June 10 to Oct 6. The festival offers audiences the chance to enjoy music in historical architectural sites through about 20 performances, alongside other activities such as speeches and city walks.
