15 missing in SW China coal mine accident

GUIYANG - Fifteen workers are missing after a coal mine accident Tuesday morning in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities said.

The accident occurred at around 7 am at Anping Coal Mine, which is located in the Lihua Township in Libo County, said Min Luming, secretary of the Communist Party of China of Libo County.

Initial probe said 28 miners were working in the shaft when the accident happened. Of them, 13 escaped from the site and the remaining 15 are missing.

Rescue efforts are under way.
